Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive

Our commitment to you and the environment.

WEEE Directive

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) became law in the UK in 2007. Its primary purpose is to minimise the impact of waste electrical and electronic equipment on the environment by recycling rather than disposing in landfill.

WEEE-binPromethean fully endorses the environmental objectives of the WEEE Directive and all Promethean electronic products are marked with the crossed-out wheelie bin symbol to alert customers to the fact that these products must not be disposed of with general/household waste streams but separated from other waste streams and sent to approved treatment facilities for safe recycling or disposal.

Information for customers – UK only

As a producer of non-household electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)and to fulfil our WEEE obligations, Promethean has registered with WEEECare, a producer compliance scheme.

Our WEEE registration number: - Promethean WEE/AK00052R

Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013, when customers buy new electrical and electronic equipment from Promethean they are entitled to:

  • Send old equipment for recycling on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis.
  • Send the new equipment back for recycling when this ultimately becomes waste.

Please e-mail Promethean if you have a request for waste equipment to be recycled or have any further enquiries.

Information for customers – EU

Under the WEEE Directive each European Union (EU) member state is obliged to pass the WEEE directive into their national law. Promethean products are sold in many EU member states through distributors who are considered the “importer” of the supplied product within the scope of the WEEE Directive and therefore the “producer”. The distributors have the legal responsibility to register in their own member state to facilitate compliance with the WEEE regulations.

Please see WEEE information on Promethean World language sites below or if you are looking to locate a distributor/reseller in your country please email Promethean for assistance.

Information for Recyclers

As part of compliance with the WEEE Directive, Promethean provides recycling information on request for all types of new equipment put on the market in Europe after August 13th 2005.

Please email Promethean providing your contact information and details of the product for which you would like to receive recycling information.
